Pink Triangle Park and Memorial

Attraction · The Castro, California

A memorial garden at Castro, Market and 17th Streets, holding 15 granite pylons, each of which represents 1,000 lives lost. A loose rock-filled triangle at its centre holds rose crystals, and visitors are encouraged to take one. It is run by volunteers through a 501(c)(3) organisation, and its own site titles it the Pink Triangle Memorial.

History

It was dedicated on 10 December 2001, United Nations Human Rights Day, by the Eureka Valley Promotion Association. Its own site states that 100,000 men were arrested between 1933 and 1945.
