Palazzo Fusconi Pighini (Palazzo del Gallo di Roccagiovine)

The palace was built about 1524 by Baldassarre Peruzzi for Francesco Fusconi of Norcia, papal physician to Clement VII and Paul III. About 1554 it was inherited by Adriano Fusconi, bishop of Aquino, and passed then to the Pighini. Alessandro Pighini enlarged it in the early eighteenth century to a design by Alessandro Specchi. The Pighini kept an antiquities collection here, including a Meleager with the boar, a Roman copy after Skopas, now in the Museo Pio Clementino. The palace passed to the Curti Lepri and then by dowry to the Del Gallo di Roccagiovine, and Giulia Bonaparte's literary salon met here.
