Scuderie di Augusto

The remains were found in 2009 during the archaeological investigation that preceded authorisation for a 366-space underground car park. Parallel walls and travertine pier bases identify the naves of the stabula of the Circus Flaminius, of the Augustan period and Agrippa's, who was charged with organising the Ludi Saeculares; the buildings were in use to at least the fourth century. A museum display was accepted by the Soprintendenza in 2011 and shelved in 2014 for lack of funds, and the excavation was reburied under more than 7,000 square metres of sampietrini. An opinion of the Consiglio di Stato of September 2018 cleared the way for a garden above the car park.
