History

The main hospital buildings, seven three-storey connected blocks, are listed at Grade I, NHLE 1226301. The grounds and Ranelagh Gardens are separately registered as a park and garden at Grade II, NHLE 1000353, under the name 'ROYAL HOSPITAL, CHELSEA and RANELAGH GARDENS'. The statue of Charles II in the centre of the middle courtyard is listed at Grade I, NHLE 1226477, and the entrance gates and lodges on the north-west side of Burton's Court, fronting St Leonard's Terrace, are Grade I, NHLE 1265915.
