16th Avenue Tiled Steps

A mosaic stairway on Moraga Street between 15th and 16th Avenues, made by Aileen Barr and Colette Crutcher: 163 steps stretching 90 feet (27 m) high, faced with over 2,000 unique tiles from over 75,000 glass fragments.
History
Residents Jessie Audette and Alice Yee Xavier began the project in 2003. The steps were built in July and August 2005 and opened August 27, 2005. The work was paid for by over 220 sponsored and named tiles and by the Mayor's Neighborhood Beautification Fund.
