Surbiton Station

Surbiton Station, Victoria Road, KT6 4PE, was rebuilt in 1937 by the Southern Railway to a design by James Robb Scott in an Art Deco idiom, with a concrete-framed booking hall, a clock tower and a curved canopy. It was listed Grade II on 6 October 1983 as NHLE 1185071 and remains an operational station, run by South Western Railway, in London fare zone 6.
History
Kingston refused the main line in the 1830s, so the London and South Western Railway routed it through open country to the south, and the town of Surbiton grew around the station that resulted. The 1937 rebuilding replaced the earlier station entirely and is the work the Grade II listing describes, NHLE 1185071. Thirteen bus routes stop within 400 m of the station: 71, 281, 406, 418, 465, 662, 665, 671, K1, K2, K3, K4 and N65.
