Teatro di Pompeo
Historic site · Parione, Italy
it.wikipedia describes the Theatre of Pompey as the theatrum marmoreum, and states that the site today belongs to the rione Parione. The curve of its cavea survives in the line of the houses along Via di Grotta Pinta.
History
There is nothing to go inside. What there is to see is the street plan: walk Via di Grotta Pinta and the bend of the houses is the shape of the seating. The buildings above and around it — the Palazzo Orsini Pio Righetti, the deconsecrated church of Santa Maria in Grottapinta — sit on the theatre's substructures.
