History
The Grade II listing was made on 8 May 1950 as list entry 1080208, under the register name "THE MARKET HOUSE". The building went up in 1788, replacing an earlier market house of 1561 on the same High Street site. The Church of St Margaret abuts the site immediately to the south-west and is Grade II, NHLE 1180516; the two entries were made on the same day in 1950. Uxbridge Underground station, on the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines, is 96 m away, and the bus station beside it takes routes 222, 331, 427, A10, N207, SL8, U1, U2, U3, U4, U5, U7, U9 and U10.
