The centre's Art Center and Design Store is at 667 Grant Avenue and opens 11am to 6pm, Thursday to Monday. Its office is at 750 Kearny Street, third floor mezzanine, San Francisco, CA 94108, open 9am to 6pm, on (415) 986-1822 extension 025. The Him Mark Lai Learning Center, at 750 Kearny Street on the third floor, is by appointment only.
History
Wikipedia records that the centre is a non-profit established in 1965 as the operations centre of the Chinese Culture Foundation, which incorporated on 15 October 1965; that its facilities inside the hotel building at 750 Kearny Street run to 20,000 square feet and include a 299-seat auditorium, a 2,935-square-foot gallery, a gallery shop, a classroom and offices; that work on those facilities began on 27 January 1973; and that the space is leased at a nominal cost after lobbying by the local Chinese American community. Jenny Leung has been executive director since 2020, following Mabel Teng from 2009 to 2019.
