Donaldina Cameron House

The building was formerly the Occidental Board Presbyterian Mission House and the Chinese Presbyterian Mission House. Wikipedia records that the Presbyterian Women's Occidental Board of Foreign Missions was organised by five women in 1873, and that the Mission House was formed in Chinatown in 1876 under Margaret Culbertson, first in a wooden building across the street at 933 Sacramento Street, as a home for Chinese girls escaping abusive employment or prostitution. Donaldina Cameron joined in 1895 and later directed the house. The adjoining parcel at 901-945 Sacramento Street carries a separate building of 1982.
