Willie "Woo Woo" Wong Playground

The playground is at 830 Sacramento Street, between Waverly Place and Pagoda Place, on a terraced hillside site of 0.656 acres, or 28,591 square feet. It has two sand-floor playgrounds, tennis and volleyball courts, and a clubhouse with a rooftop basketball court. At the park's western edge, Hang Ah Alley lies wholly within the park boundary. History
The park is named for the Chinese American basketball player Willie "Woo Woo" Wong, who played for the University of San Francisco. It was rebuilt on a budget of $14.5 million from the 2012 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond and the Downtown Parks Fund, and opened to the public in February 2021. The site it stands on, 828 Sacramento Street, is where the Tung Wah Yi Kuk, the ancestor of Chinese Hospital, opened in 1899.
