History
SF Planning records the construction year as 1921. San Francisco Public Library describes the branch's holdings as including an extensive file of pamphlets, newspapers and magazine articles on Chinatown's history and on issues of concern to the Chinese and Asian American community. Rene Yung's Take Root, nine copper panels and lamps made in 1996, is set into the facade.
