Monumento della Caravella (Colonna di Parigi)

Historic site · Castro Pretorio, Italy

A cipollino marble column carrying a bronze caravel, given by Paris and erected in 1959.

History

Italian Wikipedia's article on the rione describes a column of cipollino marble topped by a bronze caravel, given by the city of Paris and erected in 1959 to commemorate the twinning of Rome and Paris of 9 April 1956, carrying the motto Solo Parigi e degna di Roma e solo Roma e degna di Parigi. The same article places the column on Via Parigi. Turismo Roma carries its own page for it under the name Colonna di Parigi, but gives a different street, Via Giuseppe Romita, so the street here is taken from one named source only and no address is published.
