Congregation Yetev Lev D'Satmar Synagogues

Historic site · South Williamsburg, New York

Two large Hasidic synagogues of the Satmar community, one on Rodney Street and one at Kent Avenue and Hooper Street. They are active houses of worship; no source consulted for this guide addresses visitor access, and it should not be assumed.

History

The congregation was formally established in late April 1948 by the followers of Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum, the Satmar Rebbe, about eighteen months after he arrived in New York.
