El Puente

The headquarters of El Puente, a grassroots arts and social and environmental justice organization. It is a working community organization rather than a visitor attraction.
History
El Puente was founded in 1982 by Luis Garden Acosta, Eugenio Maldonado and Dr. Frances Lucerna to address youth gang and street violence in Williamsburg and Greenpoint. It founded El Puente Academy for Peace and Justice in 1993. Garden Acosta died in January 2019 and the organization continues operating.
