Kings County Savings Bank Building
Historic site · South Williamsburg, New York
A French Second Empire bank building on the Broadway boundary of the neighborhood, occupied by banks for over a century and by the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center since 1996. The center's own website reports the building has remained closed to the public since water damage in July 2025, so treat the exterior as the visit.
History
The building was constructed between 1860 and 1867 as the Kings County Savings Institution, designed by the architects Gamaliel King and William H. Willcox. It was designated a New York City individual landmark on March 15, 1966 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 16, 1980. The bank itself was liquidated on October 20, 1995.
