Crown Heights North Historic District
Historic site · Crown Heights, New York
A residential district of 1,019 contributing rowhouses, townhouses, flats and institutional and commercial buildings across 102.86 acres, built between about 1853 and 1942. There is nothing to buy a ticket to; it is an area to walk.
History
The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 31, 2014, and a boundary expansion added on March 11, 2016 brought in roughly 600 more buildings, including properties associated with Shirley Chisholm, the first African-American woman elected to Congress.
