The art museum on the north side of the Music Concourse, at 50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive. No source states its opening hours, so none are given here. Keith Haring's Untitled (Three Dancing Figures), enamel on aluminum, stands at the museum; the city's Civic Art Collection dates it 2001 (fabricated in 1989).
History
The museum began as the Fine Arts building of the 1894 Mid Winter Fair, an Egyptian Revival structure given to the Park Commission. It was rebuilt in a Spanish Plateresque manner in 1919; the central section and the tower were added in 1921 and the west wing in 1925. The 1894 building was deemed unsafe and demolished in 1929. The Brundidge wing and a rear expansion were added in 1965, and those buildings were demolished in 2003. La poeme de la vigne, a bronze by Paul Gustave Dore created in 1877 and 1878, was a gift of M. H. de Young.
