Eberhard Faber Pencil Company Historic District

The former pencil factory complex, viewable from the street; the buildings are not open to the public. Several of them now house the headquarters of Kickstarter.
History
Following a fire at the Manhattan plant in 1872, Faber moved the factory to Brooklyn, where it remained until 1956. Per the Landmarks Preservation Commission's designation report, the Faber company grew to become one of the largest pencil manufacturers in the world, with additional factories in Germany, Canada, and Argentina. The district was designated on October 30, 2007 (Designation List 397, LP-2264).
