McCarren Park

A 35-acre park that NYC Parks describes as shared by Greenpoint and Williamsburg, with ballfields, tennis and basketball courts, a running track, and the McCarren Park Pool and Play Center. It was formerly known as Greenpoint Park.
History
The park opened in 1906 as Greenpoint Park and was renamed in 1909 for State Senator Patrick H. McCarren. Its WPA-era pool, designed by Aymar Embury II under Robert Moses, opened in 1936, closed after the 1983 season, and sat unused for nearly three decades before a $50 million reconstruction reopened it on June 28, 2012.
