Erasmus Hall Academy Building

The original 1787 Georgian-Federal academy building still stands inside the active Erasmus Hall Educational Campus. The academy was founded in 1786 by Rev. John H. Livingston and Senator John Vanderbilt and became a public school in 1896.
History
The academy building was designated a New York City landmark in 1966 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975; the later high school buildings were separately landmarked in 2003. The city closed Erasmus Hall as a single high school in 1994 and divided the campus into several small schools.
