Lefferts Historic House
Museum · Flatbush, New York
A farmhouse built around 1783 by Pieter Lefferts and moved into Prospect Park in 1918 from its original site on Flatbush Avenue. It has operated as a museum since about 1920 and reopened in May 2023 after a $2.5 million restoration.
History
The 1800 census recorded twelve enslaved people living on the property. The museum's period rooms, working garden and exhibits cover the area's Native inhabitants and its enslaved residents.
