Havering Museum occupies 19-21 High Street, Romford, RM1 1JU, and opens Wednesday to Friday from 11am to 4.30pm, with last entry to the galleries at 3.30pm and to the shop at 4pm. History

The museum collects and preserves objects which record the history of the London Borough of Havering and makes them accessible through exhibitions, events and education programmes. An annual season ticket is £15.00 for adults and £12.00 for senior citizens, and guided tours for groups of ten or more are £2.00 a head, bookable on 01708 766 571. It is a charity, number 1093763. From Romford station the museum directs visitors to turn left, walk along South Street to the Golden Lion and then left along the High Street about 100 yards; the buses it names as stopping at Romford Market are the 66, 86, 87, 103, 128, 165, 174, 175, 193, 247, 248, 252, 294, 296, 351, 365, 370, 373, 374, 496, 499, 500 and 750/751.
