History
Roma Capitale records that the business began in 1908 in a small restaurant in Piazza Rosa, on the site later occupied by the Galleria Alberto Sordi, when Alfredo Di Lelio made fettuccine of semolino with butter and parmesan for his wife Ines after childbirth; that it moved to via della Scrofa in 1914; and that Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, honeymooning in Rome, gave him two gold serving pieces. The via della Scrofa premises were given up around the Second World War, and his son Armando, Alfredo II, restarted afterwards on piazza Augusto Imperatore. Roma Capitale names Alfredo III alongside Ines Di Lelio in the family that runs it.
