Ilford Hospital Chapel, formally the Hospital Chapel of St Mary the Virgin and St Thomas of Canterbury, stands on Ilford Hill above the Roding at IG1 2AT and is listed Grade II* as NHLE 1300587. It is an almshouse foundation dating from about 1130. No source states its opening hours, so none are given here.
History
The Grade II* listing was made on 10 April 1954 as list entry 1300587 and amended on 20 June 2003. The almshouses, NHLE 1390507, and the chaplain's house, NHLE 1390508, were added to the list at Grade II on 20 June 2003, nearly fifty years after the chapel itself. The chapel stands about 22 m from the IG1 2AT postcode unit and about 135 m south of Ilford station, which is served by the Elizabeth line and Greater Anglia.
