Redbridge Museum and Heritage Centre occupies the second floor of Redbridge Central Library, Clements Road, Ilford, IG1 1EA, about 400 m from Ilford station. The museum opens Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm; the Heritage Centre opens Tuesday to Friday and every other Saturday, 10.30am to 4pm.
History
Arts Council England records one Accredited museum inside the borough: this one holds Full Accreditation, with Vision Redbridge Culture & Leisure as its governing body and Local Authority as its museum type. The museum states that it explores "the many different places, people and events in over 200,000 years of Redbridge history", and its permanent exhibition reopened in August 2024 after a redevelopment. The Heritage Centre is the borough's archive and local studies service, holding material on the history of Ilford, Wanstead, Woodford and Redbridge with free local and family history resources.
