Valentines Park

Valentines Park is a Grade II registered park and garden of 51.52 hectares, NHLE 1000843, entered from Cranbrook Road, Ilford, IG1 4TG. It was laid out as the grounds of Valentines Mansion and holds a Green Flag Award, a 300-year-old field maple, ornamental gardens, flowering meadows, two children's play areas and two cafes — the Gardener's Cottage Cafe by the mansion and Valentines Park Cafe by the bandstand.
History
The park was registered at Grade II on 1 October 1987 as list entry 1000843, and Historic England records the registered area as 51.52 hectares. Its boundary railings, gates and gatepiers were listed Grade II* in their own right on 10 April 1954, NHLE 1081027, a higher grade than the park's registration. Two grottoes inside it, NHLE 1183617 and NHLE 1244052, and the ha-ha, NHLE 1244054, are Grade II. The outdoor gym carries 15 pieces of equipment across 20 work stations. Gants Hill station on the Central line is the nearest Underground station to the mansion at 506 m.
