Italian Wikipedia is the only source this guide holds for the collection. It records that a fire in the building on 15 September 1897 damaged a chapel of the Madonna del Rosario, that Victor Jouët read a human face in the scorch marks behind the altar, and that he then travelled Italy, France, Belgium and Germany collecting comparable material. The oldest item is dated 1637. After Jouët's death in 1912, Fr Gilla Vincenzo Gremigni cut the display back in 1921 to what he judged indisputably authentic. The same article names the scorched sleeve of Giuseppe Leleux of Wodecq, whose mother died in 1762 and whose apparition it dates to 1789; the burn-marked garments of Isabella Fornari, abbess of the Poor Clares of Todi, 1731; and a photocopy of a partly burned ten-lire note associated with the monastery of San Leonardo di Montefalco, 1920.
