Polo museale dei trasporti

Museum · Ostiense, Italy

A transport museum in the old goods yard of the Roma-Lido terminus, partly open-air with restored rolling stock and partly indoors with models, instruments and the model of the stazione di Osilo. The museum was closed to the public from 2020, first under COVID-19 measures and then for maintenance pending funding from the Regione Lazio and the transfer of the Roma-Lido from ATAC to COTRAL and ASTRAL, effective 1 July 2022. It reopened on 14 October 2022. No source states its current opening hours, so none are given here.

History

Met.Ro. opened the museum on 18 September 2004, on an idea of the engineer Angelo Curci, during Rome's second notte bianca. Its stock was built between 1907 and 1945 and includes the Breda-AEG locomotive of 1915, STEFER no. 01, the Carminati & Toselli-TIBB of 1922, STEFER no. 05, the Stanga-TIBB ECD railcar of 1931, SRFN no. 21, and STFER tram no. 404 of 1941.
