Parco della Resistenza dell'Otto Settembre

A public park behind the Palazzo delle Poste, bounded by Piazza Albania, Via della Piramide Cestia, Via Marmorata and Viale Manlio Gelsomini. In it stands the Fontana dell'Anfora, also to Raffaele de Vico's design: a wide circular basin at ground level with an octagonal travertine base carrying a bronze amphora with eight spouts like raised trunks, a central jet, and eight holes in the belly of the vessel. It is not the Fontana delle Anfore by Pietro Lombardi, which is a different fountain, in Testaccio.
History
Roma Segreta records that the park was inaugurated on 21 April 1939 to a design by Raffaele de Vico. It was laid out as Parco Cestio, for the Pyramid of Cestius, and later renamed for the Resistance of September 1943 at Porta San Paolo. The same account records that the name Parco Cestio stayed with the small green patch on the other side of Via Marmorata, which belongs to Rione XX Testaccio.
