Museo Aristaios (Collezione Sinopoli)

The museum opened in December 2012 and holds the 161 works bought by the Ministry from the heirs of the conductor and collector Giuseppe Sinopoli, under a valorisation agreement between the Ministry, Roma Capitale and the Fondazione Musica per Roma. The ceramics run from Minoan and Mycenaean through Geometric, Corinthian, Laconian and East Greek to Attic black-figure and red-figure, Italiote red-figure and indigenous Daunian ware, with a Cycladic marble vase, Etruscan and Magna Graecia bronze vessels and votive statuettes. Attic pieces include work by Lydos, the Lysippides Painter, the circle of Nikosthenes, the Syleus Painter and the Eretria Painter.
