Stadio Flaminio

A stadium on viale Tiziano, built for the football tournament of the 1960 Olympics. Despite the name it belongs administratively to the quartiere Parioli, at whose western end it stands, viale Tiziano being adjacent to the boundary with the quartiere Flaminio. The pitch is 105 by 70 metres and the total area 21,600 square metres; the stadium was built for 42,000 places. No source states whether it can currently be visited.
History
Antonio Nervi designed it with structural engineering by his father Pier Luigi Nervi, and it was inaugurated on 19 March 1959 in a live television broadcast, on the site of the Stadio Nazionale, at a cost of about 900 million lire of the day. From the 1970s it was used by the Italy national rugby team and by Rugby Roma Olimpic, and at times by Lazio, Roma, Lodigiani and Atletico Roma. The FIGC has conducted the ground since 26 February 2014 and redevelopment proposals have been under discussion.
