Pasquino

Historic site · Parione, Italy

Pasquino became a characteristic figure of the city between the 16th and 19th centuries. The Sovrintendenza Capitolina records that the statue is traditionally referred to the decoration of the Stadium of Domitian, that it was found in Piazza Navona at the corner with Via della Cuccagna, and that it represents the group of Patroclus and Menelaus - while noting that other statues certainly belonging to the Stadium's decoration were found in other excavations around it.

History

The statue stands in the small square that takes its name, Piazza di Pasquino.
