Piazza Perin del Vaga

An elliptical square, now a pedestrian island, ringed by neo-Renaissance residential blocks and with two travertine dolphin fountains at its sides. It runs between piazza Melozzo da Forlì and the junction of via Girolamo Muziano with via Masolino da Panicale. Roma Capitale's own news item about the square places it in the II Municipio.

History

The square was laid out in the 1920s as part of the ICP Flaminio II public housing scheme, already provided for in Rome's 1909 master plan, with lots by Mario De Renzi (lot I) and Alessandro Limongelli (lots II and III) and the outer buildings by Giuseppe Wittinch and Tito Bruner. The quartiere's own entry dates the Case ICP Flaminio II to 1925-27; the attributions are given by ArchiDiAP. The requalification of the square as a pedestrian island, run by Roma Servizi per la Mobilità, was inaugurated in 2019, and Roma Capitale announced it in a news item of 12 July 2019.
