San Salvatore in Campo

An earlier church is attested in the first half of the tenth century as S. Salvatoris de domno Campo, from Campo, an abbot of Farfa, and the name appears in a bull of Urban III of 1186. In 1551 that medieval church was the first seat of Filippo Neri's Trinità dei Pellegrini confraternity. It was demolished in the seventeenth century for the Palazzo del Monte di Pietà, and Urban VIII had the present church built on a different site in 1639 by Francesco Peparelli, keeping the name.
