A working hospital on the Isola Tiberina, founded by the Hospitaller Order of St John of God, whose friars are called Fatebenefratelli, the name by which Romans know it. It is not a visitor site, and no visiting arrangements are given here.
History
It stands on the site of the ancient temple to Aesculapius. Turismo Roma dates the foundation of the hospital to 1584. Since 1 September 2022 it has carried the name Ospedale Isola Tiberina - Gemelli Isola, after purchase by Gemelli Isola - Societa Benefit S.p.A., created by the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS.
