Alhambra Theater

A Moorish Revival cinema at 2320-2336 Polk Street, with two turrets outside and a kaleidoscope domed ceiling inside. It is San Francisco Landmark No. 217, designated in 1996. The building now houses a Crunch Fitness gym; the original marquee has been restored and films are still shown on the screen.
History
It opened on 5 November 1926 with 1,625 seats, at a cost of 500,000 dollars, to a design by Miller & Pflueger. Timothy L. Pflueger also designed the Castro Theatre and the Paramount in Oakland. The auditorium was twinned in 1976 and returned to a single screen in 1988, and it closed as a cinema on 22 February 1998.
