The Temple, Wanstead Park

The Grade II listing was made on 20 December 1954 as list entry 1081016. The Corporation calls it "once a rich man's folly, and now home to art and history exhibitions and the story of Wanstead Park". It holds the story of the park's Roman villa told through mosaics and other items from the Epping Forest museum collection, together with statues that once stood through the grounds. There is a gift shop, ground-floor exterior toilets including a RADAR-key accessible unisex unit, and a small Blue Badge car park reached from Warren Road. Both floors have ground-level access, and the main entrance is up a resin-bonded path on a steep incline with two shallow steps. Wanstead station is about 1,270 m away and Redbridge station about 960 m.
