Twickenham Stadium and the World Rugby Museum

The Rugby Football Union bought a 10.25-acre market garden in Twickenham in 1907 for £5,500 12s 6d; the first stands went up the following year and the ground opened on 2 October 1909. The RFU has its headquarters on the site. The museum holds over 37,000 pieces of rugby memorabilia — boots, balls, jerseys, programmes, match tickets and books — and opened as the Museum of Rugby in 1996, became the World Rugby Museum in 2007 and reopened after refurbishment in early 2018. Neither the stadium nor the museum carries an entry on the National Heritage List for England. Harlequins play at the Twickenham Stoop immediately across Langhorn Drive, and Twickenham station is served by South Western Railway.
