Via dei Fori Imperiali
Historic site · Monti, Italy
The road opened in 1932 as via dell'Impero. It is the boundary between Monti and Campitelli: the fora on the north side, Trajan's and Augustus's, are Monti's, and those on the south side are Campitelli's.
History
The Italian Wikipedia article on the rione records that the entire sixteenth-century quarter behind the road, centred on via Alessandrina, was demolished to make it, and that excavations from the late 1990s have brought back both imperial-age construction and the foundations of those demolished buildings.
