The eastern arm of the Tridente, running from piazza del Popolo to piazza di Spagna. it.wikipedia dates its opening to 1523 to 1527, under Clement VII, as the third of the three streets.
History
The street was formerly via Clementina, opened by Clement VII, and the Sovrintendenza records that it was renamed after the Babuino, the reclining Silenus fountain set against a palazzetto on it. All Saints', Sant'Atanasio dei Greci, Palazzo Nainer and the Museo Atelier Canova-Tadolini all stand on it.
