The western arm of the Tridente, running from piazza del Popolo towards the river front and the Augustan monuments. it.wikipedia records that it was traced in 1518 under Leo X and was called via Leonina.
History
The street is named for the Porto di Ripetta, the river landing that stood in front of San Girolamo dei Croati and was demolished at the end of the nineteenth century. The Ara Pacis was reassembled in 1938 in a pavilion built on this street, and the Accademia di Belle Arti's historic seat stands at number 222.
