The baseball grounds at the east end of the park, approximately 12 acres, with two regulation diamonds with skinned infields and concrete stands. The grandstands are named in honour of James Nealon, founder of a benefit fund for injured ballplayers, and Charles Graham of the San Francisco Seals.
History
The grounds appear on William Hammond Hall's 1870 plan and were officially developed in 1893. The large open meadow once held as many as nine baseball games. The east stands were constructed in 1950. A concrete handball building with a glass skylight roof, of 1902 to 1937, stands nearby, along with sixteen horseshoe courts reportedly first developed on that site in 1922 and a monumental bas relief concrete horse created in 1937 by Jesse Anderson of the Horseshoe Club.
