Conservatory of Flowers
Attraction · Golden Gate Park, California
The wood and glass conservatory above Conservatory Valley, north of John F. Kennedy Drive. Its galleries are the Aquatic Plants, Highland Tropics, Lowland Tropics, Potted Plants and West galleries. No source states its opening hours, so none are given here. It is San Francisco Landmark No. 50, designated in 1972, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, reference number 71000184.
History
The conservatory was acquired for the park from an estate while it was still in crates and was constructed in 1878. A fire damaged the building in 1883, with repairs that enlarged it made by 1885, and the wood and glass building was damaged by storms in 1995.
