Cape Arundel Golf Club

Golf course · Kennebunkport, Maine

Second on Golf Digest's 2025-'26 ranking of the best golf courses in Maine and labelled "Public," and the highest-ranked course on that edition that a member of the public can arrange to play. The operator's own description is "a private club which welcomes public play": "Public players may call the Golf Shop 3 days in advance at (207) 967-3494 to book tee times," and no sponsorship, referral, reciprocal-club or host requirement appears anywhere on its site. Founded in 1896 as the Kennebunkport Golf Club; the links-style layout in play was produced by Walter J. Travis, dated "the early twenties" by the club and 1921 by Golf Digest. Golf Digest's prose gives 5,859 yards and its stored record 5,881 yards, par 70. The property is on the National Register of Historic Places as a district, NRIS 09000879, published 11/4/2009, architects recorded as Travis, Walter J. and Senat, Prosper L. The 1900 clubhouse was renamed 41 House in 2011 for George H.W. Bush, the club's 1947 Club Champion. No green fee is publishable: the club's rate table carries no year or effective date. The club publishes no opening or closing date, and it is not a year-round course.
