Casa Madre dei Mutilati ed Invalidi di Guerra

Roma Segreta records that the building was commissioned by Carlo Delcroix, president of the ANMIG, built by the Ditta Igliori to a design by Marcello Piacentini in two campaigns, the first block between 1925 and 1928 and a second added in 1936, and inaugurated while still unfinished on 4 November 1928 before King Vittorio Emanuele III and Queen Elena, on the tenth anniversary of the armistice. The same source records that the ANMIG formed spontaneously in 1917 and had half a million members by the mid-1920s. The address is a toponym of its own: Roma Capitale's register created the Largo dei Mutilati ed Invalidi di Guerra on 26 October 1989, by Del. CS n. 2444, out of lungotevere Castello, of which it had until then been an integral part, and dedicated it in memoria di tutti gli invalidi e mutilati di tutte le guerre. The largo is in Prati.
