Sculpture and inscriptions set out in the long loggia that joins the Belvedere palace to the Vatican palaces, on the Vatican Museums itinerary and covered by the Museums ticket. Works the Museums name here are Heracles with the infant Telephos, the Gradiva, the Augustus of Prima Porta, the Nile and the Peacocks.
History
The museum is named for Pius VII Chiaramonti. The New Wing, the Braccio Nuovo, was built when the works confiscated by Napoleon returned from France and the pontifical collections were re-ordered.
