Greek and Roman sculpture on the Vatican Museums itinerary, covered by the Museums ticket. The works the Museums name include marble from the Parthenon, the Athena and Marsyas, the Asarotos oikos mosaic, the Chiaramonti Niobid, a Julius Caesar, the reliefs from the Palazzo della Cancelleria, material from the Mausoleum of the Haterii and a mosaic from the Baths of Caracalla.

History

Gregory XVI Cappellari founded the museum in the Lateran Apostolic Palace on 16 May 1844, and the collection was later moved into the Vatican Museums.
