SF Planning records the construction year of 713-721 Clay Street as 1912. Wikipedia records that the earlier restaurant at 813 Washington Street closed in 2012 for safety reasons, that the business reopened on Clay Street in 2015, and that it closed briefly in 2025 and reopened the same year under new management. Edsel Ford Fung, who died in 1984, worked there in the 1960s, and some of the signs he wrote for the Washington Street room survive.
