Waverly Place

One block of Waverly Place runs between Sacramento Street and Washington Street, parallel to Grant Avenue and west of it. Its Chinese name is 天后廟街, Tianhou miao jie, Tin How Temple Street, after the temple on the top floor at No. 125; the street was called Pike Street before. Mister Jiu's is at No. 28, the First Chinese Baptist Church at No. 15 and the Bing Kong Tong Benevolent Association at No. 35.

History

SF Planning's parcel records put almost the whole street in the decade after 1906: Nos. 1-15 in 1908, 16 in 1907, 18-20 in 1907, 29-35 in 1911, 37-39 in 1911, 41-45 in 1907, 100-108 in 1906, 109-115 in 1907, 112-118 in 1906, 117-123 in 1907, 124-132 in 1907, 125-129 in 1911, 131-133 in 1907, 137-141 in 1909, 138-142 in 1910, 143-147 in 1906, 146-150 in 1907 and 151-155 in 1906. Nos. 160-162 date from 1954.
